Breed

We breed Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever within the strict requirements of the German Retriever Club (DRC), which belongs to the German Dog Club (VDH) and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

Our kennelname “Active Asics” has two parts: “Asics” is a shortcut for the latin saw “Anima Sana in in Corpore Sano” which means “a healthy mind in a healthy body”. Together with the word “Active” is this a great description of our breeding goals.

A healthy mind means that we set high value on breeding stable dogs that are clear in their heads, that have lots of drive and work passion and at the same time bring the ability for being quiet and steady. We would like to maintain the typical nature of the breed like passion for work, passion for retrieving and will-to-please.

A healthy body means not only having all the official health results, but also considering the overall health, structure and the typical exterior of the dog.
The combination “active – healthy mind – healthy body” is the basis to breed dogs that qualify for being a companion in daily live, in a family and in all possible dog sports (Dummy, Agility, Obedience, …) or for being a rescue dog and of course beeing used for hunting.

We put a lot of effort in choosing a suitable sire for our female, no distance is to far for us. Both parents should match the breed standard and each other.
The puppies are raised in our house, furthermore they can discover an outside playing area with lots of different things to explore. It is very important for us to give the puppies an optimum of impressions and preparation for their lives. Therefore the puppies get in touch with daily sounds and make trips to different places with us. Additionally they get used to drive by car. Puppies will be dewormed several times, vaccinated and have their microchips when they are ready to go to their new homes. Every puppy gets the European vaccination pass and later the DRC Certified Pedigree.
